The former Grace Hospital site could become a Greektown if a proposed land swap goes through.
Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis announced council's unanimous support for a land swap with the Greek community after a closed-door meeting Thursday morning.
Francis says a Greek church and community centre could be an anchor for a Greektown in west Windsor, which already boasts a number of Greek-owned businesses.
The Greek community will meet on Sunday at 3 p.m. and hear the proposal from Francis shortly after. They will then vote on the proposal.
Francis says the deal would be mutually beneficial for both the Greek community and the City of Windsor, especially those who live around the blighted former Grace site.
The city commissioned architectural renderings of what the site would look like.
