Layoff notices have been handed out to 28 unionized employees at Caesars Windsor.

The notices were given to 26 full-time and two part-time staff.

The regional president of Caesars entertainment says the layoffs will be offset by 20 part time postings.

Kevin Laforet says while the decision to reduce the staff is difficult the company has to remain fiscally responsible to ensure long term sustainability.

Revenues were promising in 2014, but Laforet says Caesars continues to look for efficiencies.

Laforet stresses the layoffs are not connected to the financial restructuring of Caesars Entertainment.
