Windsor police are conducting an investigation after a body was found in home following a fire at the residence early Wednesday morning.
Fire crews were called to a home at 1407 Aubin Rd. shortly after 1 a.m. after a fire was reported.
Heavy flames and smoke could be seen coming from the two-storey structure and the fire quickly spread to a neighbouring home.
Neighbour Cierra Bray says it didn't take long for fire crews to knock down the fire.
"The fire rescuers were just running in and I was impressed how quickly they got rid of it, however, on the first house, you could see a flame starting to come up on the roof."
Two people in the home made it out safely, though one was taken to hospital with minor smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.
The body of an elderly female was later found in a bedroom of the home. Neighbours say the woman was in her 90s.
No one in the neighbouring home was injured.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire and no damage estimate has been released.
Windsor police Sgt. Mike Akpata says, "At this point in time, it does not appear to be a suspicious fire."
Windsor police are conduction an investigation along with the Windsor Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office.
