Officials say feces were flung at police after officers arrested an unruly Chatham woman on Wednesday.
Officers responded to a disturbance around 7:30 a.m. at a residence on Victoria Avenue. Upon arrival, police say a woman was seen kicking the front door of the residence, while yelling and swearing.
Police say the woman successfully kicked through the pane glass of the door, causing roughly $500 in damage. She then fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended a short time later.
During the arrest, officers say the woman continuously resisted being taken into custody. When she was finally taken back to headquarters, police say the woman bit an officer’s hand, defecated in her cell and threw poop.
Through their investigation, it was learned the woman had attended the residence earlier that morning and assaulted the homeowner, causing minor injuries.
The 28-year-old is charged with assault causing bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer.
She has since been transported to a courthouse pending a bail hearing.
