Word came in Thursday evening that Windsor police have arrested a 20-year-old Windsor resident in connection to the Walkerville shooting. Police also say the shooting is not believed to be a random act and no other suspects are being sought.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen on the sidewalk outside the Tim Hortons near Wyandotte Street East and Walker Road Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the area around 1 p.m. When officers arrived, the suspect and the victim were not on scene.
Investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect attended the Tim Horton's parking lot in separate vehicles.
Police say there was an altercation and the suspect allegedly shot the victim and was last seen running south on Monmouth Street.
The victim got into a vehicle and was brought to the hospital by another a man, who was also at the scene at the time of the shooting.
The victim received emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and is in stable condition.
Officers say the shooter and the victim were known to each other.
Through the investigation detectives believe they were able to identify the alleged suspect.
The major crime branch continues to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to call.
