Two family members have been charged for helping a woman who allegedly used a fake driver's licence with name of a deceased child.
Kornelia Kurti, 41, of Windsor, faces 13 counts of fraud, including procuring passport by false statement, possessing an identity document of another and uttering a forged document.
Police say she had two separate driver licenses and was using two separate names. This information started a lengthy investigation looking into the background of the names on the licenses.
Investigators say the woman had a license in her own name as well as a deceased four-year-old girl, Rozalia Kovacs, who died in 1974. She had allegedly been using the identity of the deceased girl since 1997.
While investigating the false passport applications in the name of Rozalia Kovacs, investigators say that her sister Monika Kurti was the guarantor on the application.
Investigators also say that in Monika Kurti's passport application she lists Rozalia Kovacs as a "friend" and having known her for 30 years.
Their mother, Iren Kranauer, lists Kovacs as a "friend" and as an emergency contact on another passport application years later.
Monika Kurti, 44, is charged with three counts of procuring a passport by false statement.
Iren Kranauer, 65, is charged with two counts of procuring a passport by false statement.
