Two Highway 401 stunt drivers charged on same day: OPP
OPP officers have charged two people with stunt driving on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
On Sunday at 11 a.m., an officer with the Elgin OPP Chatham-Kent Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on the 401, west of Bloomfield Rd, after police say the driver was found speeding more than 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old from Coatsworth, Ont., was charged with the following:
• Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - Excessive speed
Later that day, at 4:05 p.m., an officer stopped a passenger vehicle travelling westbound near Harwich Road. Police say the driver was speeding more than 50 Km/h over the posted speed limit.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 22-year-old from Oshawa was charged with the following:
• Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - Excessive speed
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
A 14-day vehicle impoundment, 30-day and three-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspensions were initiated as per statute.
