For the second consecutive game, the Windsor Spitfires managed to erase an early deficit to keep their win streak alive.

Liam Greentree found the back of the net for his team-leading 29th goal of the season to sink the Niagara IceDogs 4-3 in overtime.

The Spits fell behind 2-0 after IceDogs tallies early in the second period. However, Tanner Winegard’s first career OHL goal and Ethan Belchetz’s powerplay marker tied the game.

After an IceDogs goal midway through the third period, defenceman Josef Eichler’s shot from the point found its way past Owen Flores to send the game to overtime.

Greentree’s game-winner came just 50 seconds into the extra frame. Spitfires backstop Michael Newlove stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced.

The win pushes the Spits' winning streak to eight games.

Windsor will have a few days to rest before they travel to London on Friday to play the OHL-leading Knights.
