The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is investigating an alleged puppy mill after a tip earlier this week.
Officials say they received information on Thursday that dogs were being kept in poor conditions at a home on Bonita Street in Windsor. A search warrant was executed Friday and six dogs and one puppy were found in filthy conditions.
The humane society says it removed the dogs to relieve their distress.
The society is also looking into the possiblity that six other dogs that resemble the ones on Bonita Street may have come from that home. They say those dogs were in extremely poor physical condition at various locations in Windsor and Tecumseh.
All dogs are under the care of the humane society veterinary team and the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call 519-966-5751, ext 16 or Crimestoppers at 519-258-TIPS.
