An investigation is underway after the Windsor Police Service said multiple shots were fired at a group of people in South Windsor.

On Monday night just before midnight, police responded to the call in the 4300 block of Mount Royal Drive. Officers said when they arrived on scene, a victim was found with a gunshot wound to the leg.

They were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after first aid was given. Police said several shell casings were also found and damage to vehicles consistent with bullet holes.

The WPS believes the suspect and victim knew each other. Just after 11:45 p.m., an older light-coloured Dodge Caravan approached the victim and friends when the people inside the vehicle allegedly starting shooting from the passenger side window.

The vehicle was last seen heading southbound away from the scene. No further injuries were reported.

A person of interest has been identified by police and the investigation continues. Residents and businesses are asked to check security footage or dash cams for potential evidence between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Dec. 9.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the WPS Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 extension 4830. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
