Windsor/Essex Humane Society officials continue to investigate an alleged puppy mill in the area.
Officials seized seven dogs after a search warrant was executed Friday. Dogs were found at various locations including at an address on Bonita Street in Windsor and in Tecumseh.
Officials continue to search for another dog and believe it is in the Broadway and Machette area.
The animals were found in filthy conditions and workers spent Sunday assessing them and grooming them.
The humane society's executive director Melanie Coulter says information was received Thursday about the dogs being kept in poor conditions. Now they are preparing the dogs for adoption.
"At this point the dogs have all been surrended. We're hoping to find the remaining one, but right now we're working on getting the other ones groomed because that was one the top priorities - getting all their medical status and surgery they need done and eventually they'll be able to go up for adoption."
She says the dogs owners are cooperating with the investigation and charges are pending.
Anyone with information is asked to call the local human society or Crime Stoppers.
