WINDSOR, Ont. -- There are some new faces in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent ridings after Canada's 43rd federal election.

In fact, there is now only one representative for the New Democrats as each main federal party is represented in the region.

Liberal Irek Kusmierczyk won in the Windsor-Tecumseh riding, according to unofficial results from Elections Canada. He upset NDP Cheryl Hardcastle with 33.4 per cent of the vote. Hardcastle finished just over 600 votes behind.

"As your Member of Parliament, I'm going to continue to advocate for the auto sector and auto jobs, I will continue to advocate for more funding for flood mitigation, make sure our health care system is the strongest it can be, and make sure young people have the skills and education they need to succeed in today's economy," said Kusmierczyk early Tuesday morning after being declared the winner.

In Windsor West, NDP Brian Masse was re-elected. He defeated Liberal Sandra Pupatello to continue serving the riding for a 17th year.

“We won’t let you down,” Masse told supporters in his victory speech Monday night. “We start again tomorrow with the hard work.”

In Essex, Conservative Chris Lewis upset New Democrat Tracey Ramsey.

“I’m absolutely honoured – I’m not surprised, but I’m absolutely honoured to carry this flag back to Ottawa to leave the world a better place than we found it,” Lewis said shortly after the election was called in his favour.

Conservative Dave Epp has been elected in Chatham-Kent-Leamington, keeping the riding blue. Unofficial results show Liberal Katie Omstead was the runner up.

"It is an honour to serve. It's an honour to be entrusted with this responsibility and I do have a great legacy that I can follow, a model," says Epp."His record of exemplary public service is one that I certainly want to instill in my staff."
