A Legoland Discovery Center will be opening in a Detroit area mall next spring.

Construction will begin this summer at the Legoland Discovery Center Michigan at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Mich.

The attraction is set to open to the public in the spring of 2016.

Operated by global leisure giant Merlin Entertainments plc (Merlin), it will be Michigan’s only Legoland location.

“Great Lakes Crossing Outlets is the ideal location for the attraction as the mall is already a favored destination for Michigan families and tourists from the region,” said Glenn Earlam, managing director of Merlin’s Midway Attractions Operating Group, in a news release.

Specifically designed for families with children three to 10 years old, Legoland Discovery Center Michigan will offer a fun, highly interactive and educational experience with a range of exciting Lego play areas, according to the company.

It will include a brick pool, master classes from the Lego master model builder, a fun Lego ride, special party rooms for birthdays and other celebrations, a 4D cinema and the popular Miniland area found in every Legoland park and attraction.

The facility represents Merlin’s eighth Discovery Center in the United States. There is also a Legoland Discovery Centre in Toronto.
