Members of the Lakeshore Horse Racing Association are excited as they iron out some of the final preparations.
The association held a public open house at the Royal Canadian Legion on Howard Avenue Tuesday evening.The group is in need of volunteers to help prepare the track and make some adjustments to the paddock and stands.
The association plans to sign a one year lease at Leamington Raceway later this week. Once the location is officially secured work can begin on the site.
Officials are excited as funds have been deposited into their account for the purse money for 11 of the 13 race dates.
Racing is scheduled to start on Sept. 7 and run into October.
Last year there were only four dates, when harness racing returned to the area.
