Long-time Ward 2 councillor Ron Jones joins a growing list of municipal politicians who will not be running in this fall’s election.
The 69-year-old said it’s the right time to step down, after spending 24 years in politics. Before that, Jones served as a firefighter in Windsor.
Prior to being elected to city council in 2001, Jones served on the public school board.
Ward 3 councillor Fulvio Valentinis and Mayor Eddie Francis have previously announced they would not seek re-election.
He’s been talking to his Pastor about volunteering at his church and says he hopes to continue to serve, but only in a different capacity.
