Hockey for Hospice raises more than $530,000

The 28th annual Hockey for Hospice tournament has raised a total of $534,984 after the weekend’s festivities.The sum marks the most raised in the tournament's history.

Funds will go towards local hospice care. According to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, the money was raised by 2,000 hockey players from the region.

“These young players amaze us each and every year, and their talents on the ice are surpassed only by their work ethic and generosity off the ice,” said Katharen Bortolin, executive director for The Hospice.

“The tournament’s success is a testament to the unwavering support from players, coaches, managers, referees, family members and our community as a whole.”

Players ranged from U7 to U15 divisions. More than 200 games were played at four different arenas in Windsor-Essex.
