The main ice bowl of the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex will be sporting a new name in the near future.
The Highbury Canco Corporation (HCC) has acquired the naming rights of the rink after pledging a sponsorship to the Municipality of Leamington.
Highbury Canco is Canadian owned and is based in Leamington. HCC said in a release that it’s important to them to, “support the local community where their employees and families live and play.”
The sponsorship deal is worth $140,000 over the next seven years. The name of the main ice bowl will become the Highbury Arena.
In addition to naming rights the deal includes LED exterior signage, an upgraded sound system in the weight room, new televisions for the weight room and lobby, and upgraded Wi-Fi throughout the facility.
Leamington Mayor John Patterson says he welcomes the pledge from HCC.
“It’s these types of strong partnerships with our local corporate businesses that ensure the ongoing growth of our community, making Leamington a better place to live, work and play,” said Patterson.
Highbury Canco acquired the Heinz plant after its closure was announced in November 2013.
