Residents across Windsor-Essex are rallying behind the family of an Amherstburg man.
Adam Pouget, 30, was killed after being hit by a car on County Road 18 on Nov. 17.
Police say he was riding a skateboard to work when he was hit by a passing motorist, who was attempting to pass another vehicle.
Police believe thick fog and poor visibility were factors in the crash.
Pouget is survived by his wife Ashley and their four children, ranging in age from 8 weeks to 10 years old.
A fundraising dinner has been organized for Pouget’s family.
It will be held on Jan. 6, 2017 at Amherstburg’s Libro Centre from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
There will also be live music and a silent auction.
Tickets are $10 per person and will be available at the door.
A GoFundMe page has also been created to help raise money for the family.
Nearly $23,000 has been raised towards a $40,000 goal.
The Pouget family has also hired Greg Monforton and Partners Injury Lawyers.
Greg Monforton tells CTV News they have been hired to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. “We are trying to piece together as much evidence as we can before memories fade and witnesses disappear,” adds Monforton.
23-year-old Brandin Crosier of Amherstburg has been charged with criminal negligence causing death. He will appear in court on Dec. 20, 2016.
