The general manager of Canadian Tire store on Tecumseh Road East predicts another day of brisk sales thanks to flooding in the area.
Phil Giacalone says items were flying off his store shelves on Thursday as customers were looking for items to help deal with effects of flooded basements.
Giacalone says he put in an emergency order to the retailer's warehouse late yesterday to restock his shelves left bare before his store closed at 9 p.m. last night.
Two trucks shipped items like sump pumps, fans dehumidifiers and mops to all three city locations overnight.
Giacaline says his store triple normal one sales, while he and staff contended with some water backing up into store on Thursday.
Home Depot and Princess Auto have also ordered extra items to help replenish store shelves.
Canada's insurance industry is also responding to the flooding crisis.
IBC is deploying what is called the Community Assistance Mobile Pavilion (CAMP) to the area.
Staff will be on hand to answer insurance-related questions and help affected residents start the claims process.
They can be found at the Tecumseh arena on McNorton Street.
