An Ottawa family is asking for the public’s help finding their beloved service dog after it ran from the Harrow area while they visited over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Jackie Hicks called Essex County OPP to report that their 3-year-old Golden Retriever “Sasha” ran from the area of the 6th Concession of Colchester South, near Heritage Village, on Saturday evening.
Hicks’ son and daughter both have Autism and depend greatly upon the therapeutic qualities, guidance and companionship of this dog.
She told police that that her son has not slept in three days since the dog went missing and the family has had to return home to Ottawa after visiting for the holiday.
A group of volunteers met Monday night at the Harrow Baptist Church and conducted a search, but failed to locate the dog.
The family says that Sasha is an indoor dog, so they are encouraging farmers to check their barns and garages.
The last possible sighting was near Sunset Gardens, across from the Baptist Church on King Street in Harrow on Monday at 4 p.m.
If located, please call 613-761-8336 or the Essex County OPP detachment at 519-723-2491.
