An elderly couple is safe after being rescued by Chatham-Kent firefighters.
On Friday, a 77 year old man lost control of his vehicle on Bloomfield Rd. south of the 401 and ended up in a large ditch.
"He slid off the road, hit a tree, fell into a ditch that was roughly 15-20 feet deep. The vehicle was laying on its side," says Jim Case, station chief.
Both the man and his elderly wife were rescued and sent to hospital.
They were released shortly afterward.
Police say the cause of the crash was driving too fast for the road conditions.
