A 61-year-old transport truck driver is facing impaired driving charges after police say he was pulled over with double the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Chatham-Kent OPP received several complaints from concerned motorists about erratic driving bevaviour of a tractor trailer eastbound on Highway 401 near Tilbury on Saturday at 1:35 p.m.
Police say the transport truck was swerving across the lanes of the 401. Officers say the driver was showing signs of impairment when they pulled him over.
Alcohol test revealed that the driver was double the legal limit, say police. The fully loaded rig was towed from the scene.
Gurdip Grewal of Stoney Creek, Ont., has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content.
