Driver charged with failing to move over while passing crash on Highway 401

A 23-year-old driver is facing charges after police say he didn’t move over while passing a crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

On Tuesday at 11:50 a.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401 near Communication Road.

As a result of the investigation, the 23-year-old from Mississauga was charged with:

  • Fail to move into another lane for emergency vehicle or tow truck - if safe to do so
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

OPP officers are reminding drivers and members of the public to respect their communities, comply with all laws and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions.
