Three men managed to capture a bird’s eye view of Chatham at night, but they are not recommending others do the same.
Kyle Wicks, 22, along with friend Matt Kett and photographer Dylan Johnson snapped pictures on top of a condominium under construction in Chatham last Wednesday.
“Solely the purpose was to capture Chatham in new light,” says Wicks.
The photos drew a lot of attention after being posted on Facebook, including that of Chatham-Kent police.
“I wanted to obviously express my photos as much as I could, but I know that it would probably get me in trouble,” says Wicks.
Wicks has been in touch with police, who gave him a warning.
“We have spoken to two of them, hoping to speak to the third today warning them of their risky and illegal behavior,” says Const. Renee Cowell.
Cowell says they don’t want people to be repeating this behaviour and they don’t support it.
Wicks says he is also discouraging other people from attempting similar photoshoots.
“I’m just really grateful they (Chatham-Kent police) let us off with a warning,” Wicks says.
With all of the online sharing and notoriety, Wicks says he’s been getting offers to take other photos.
Wicks, who has a passion for photography, works at a local golf course.
