The municipality is encouraging potential visitors to take alternate routes around road work on the 401.
Construction continues on the Highway 40 overpass, also known as Communication Road, and some lanes remain closed as crews upgrades sections of the 401.
With all this work is expected to continue until mid-November, Chatham-Kent Tourism is releasing special trip itineraries for travelers highlighting picturesque roads, beaches, shopping, dining and other amenities.
Supervisor of Tourism Development, Shannon Paiva says "It's a chance to slow down and stop and smell the roses. With our newly created trip itineraries, visitors can still get to their intended destination, but add a few interesting stops and really experience the beauty and friendliness of Chatham-Kent by becoming a CK Detourist."
CK Tourism has detour maps to aid with the trip available at visitck.ca, at the Tilbury On route and in London, Sarnia and Windsor Tourist Information Centres to help travellers make the trip not only smooth, but memorable and fun.
