Plans are in the works to bring a Catholic high school to Windsor's downtown core.
It will be located where the current Windsor Arena and Water World buildings are. It will replace the old Catholic Central High School.
Windsor-Essex Catholic School Board director of education Paul Picard was on hand for Thursday’s announcement, along with Mayor Eddie Francis.
Francis says it’s important to let architects decide the layout of the new high school. He’s not saying how much of the old Windsor Arena will remain put.
The mayor assumes there will be a very public process. The property is committed to the school board, but not officially sold.
There’s no word yet on the cost of the new building as a business plan continues to develop.
Catholic Central has been around since 1929. The new school is expected to be built to last 100 years.
