In a pair of separate incidents, the Canada Border Services Agency seized a woolly mammoth tusk along with almost $100,000 in jewellery.

On Sept. 9, a vehicle driven by an American woman crossed at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor and was referred for further examination.

The examination revealed several empty jewellery boxes.

Another search of the woman's handbag found a large quantity of gold jewellery.

The woman was allowed into Canada, although the jewellery was detained and determined to be worth $99,000.

The Customs Act charges of non-report, making false statements, and attempting to evade the payment of taxes were laid against the woman and an arrest warrant was issued.

She has not yet been arrested.

A separate incident saw officials seized a woolly mammoth tusk. It's not clear how much it is worth.
