Windsor police have charged a woman with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death following an investigation into the sudden death of her roommate.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 200 block of Pratt Place just before noon on Monday by EMS after a 51-year-old man was found dead.

The woman at the scene reportedly told police she was a roommate of the man and found him unresponsive before calling 911.

Police allege the woman injected the man with an unknown drug before going to bed the night before, and say several syringes were found after a search of the residence.

Investigators told CTV News the victim had a medical condition and was in a scooter.

As a result, Dana St. Louis, 48, of Windsor was arrested and charged on Tuesday.

"We have no indication this is intentional. However, these are the circumstance that can place you in jeopardy if you are not a medical practitioner and you are injecting someone with a drug and things go wrong," says Sgt. Matthew D'Asti.

A post mortem was done in London on Wednesday, and toxicological samples are being sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 Ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477.
