Chatham-Kent OPP say a 55-year-old woman was arrested and charged with impaired driving after a complaint of a pickup truck driving erratically on Highway 401.

Officers responded to the complaint just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday on the 401, near Victoria Road.

Police stopped the Ford pickup and spoke with the driver. Officers say she had been consuming alcoholic beverages and further investigation at roadside revealed open liquor within the vehicle.

Subsequent tests indicated that the driver, Deborah Babister, 55, from Raleigh, was over the legal limit, according to police.

The woman was charged with driving while ability impaired, driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood, driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

She will appear in a Chatham court to answer to the charges.
