A Windsor woman accused of operating a puppy mill at her home made a court appearance today.

Candace Kwasnicki faces 14 counts of animal cruelty.

Officials seized seven dogs after a search warrant was executed on June 10. Dogs were found at various locations including at an address on Bonita Street in Windsor and in Tecumseh.

The Windsor-Essex Humane Society says the animals were found in filthy conditions and workers spent  a lot of time assessing and grooming them.

Each animal cruelty charge carries a possible $60,000 fine or two years in jail.
