Winnipeg Jets visit kids to spread holiday cheer

Winnipeg Jets bring holiday cheer Members of the Winnipeg Jets took time to visit and bring gifts to children in hospital.

The Winnipeg Jets helped bring some holiday cheer to a bunch of kids during their annual visit Wednesday.

Several Jets players spent time with kids and their families at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children.

The centre helps enhance the lives of kids that live with physical and cognitive disabilities. It supports kids from birth all the way up to 21 years old.

Jane Kidd-Hantscher, the executive director of the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation, said there is always so much excitement when the Winnipeg Jets can visit.

"One of the things that we're really proud of as a foundation is being able to help families have highlight reel moments, and today is one of those moments," she said.

The Jets players gave gift bags to the kids, signed autographs, and spent time talking with them about their lives.

Following multiple highlight reel moments for the Jets Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, Kidd-Hantscher said the memories the kids get from this are something they will never forget.

"There's nothing more special than being part of that and watching it," she said.

"The excitement that they bring to the community...it's part of what makes Winnipeg and Manitoba so special. We are a cold place; we are a hockey community; a day like today is spectacular."

Kidd-Hantscher said the community helps make these days possible through funding and other support, noting it all culminates in an emotional experience for everyone who is involved.
