A 22-year old Windsor woman has been sentenced to one year in jail after being found guilty of dangerous driving causing death.

Court was told Stephanie Bravo was driving 161 kilometres or close to 100 miles an hour in January 2012, when she crashed a pick-up truck into a construction truck and trailer on Riverside Drive near Clover Avenue.

The collision killed her childhood friend, 24-year old Sharri Lluhani, who was in the passenger seat.

Defence lawyer Evan Weber was asking for a sentence of six to nine. The crown was seeking three years.

Once Bravo is done her sentence, she will be on probation for two years and unable to drive for five years.

She must additionally complete 150 hours community service.
