Two law firms are filing of a class-action lawsuit on behalf of Canadians who subscribed to the Ashley Madison website, and whose personal information was disclosed to the public.

Windsor-based Sutts Strosberg LLP and Toronto-based Charney Lawyers made the announcement Thursday.

The lawsuit alleges the privacy of many thousands of Canadians was breached in July 2015 when hackers infiltrated ashleymadison.com and downloaded private information.

The action is being brought against Avid Dating Life Inc. and Avid Life Media Inc., the corporations that run ashleymadison.com.

The data breach includes users' personal names, emails, home addresses and message history, which were posted online for public viewing.
