A south Windsor school would like to transform their outdoor play area into an outdoor classroom.
St. Gabriel Catholic School is one of 10 finalists in the Majesta Trees of Knowledge Contest, where online votes can help secure $20,000.
Students packed the gymnasium Thursday morning as Mayor Eddie Francis cast his vote in support.
The outdoor classroom design features outdoor painting stations, newly planted trees and a stage with about 20 to 30 log seats.
