According to Windsor Regional Hospital, they have started to receive funding letters from Cancer Care Ontario.

The hospital says they are reviewing the documents to ensure they reflect all the funding owed.

The hospital says the letters are a good start, but say they’re still awaiting a response from CCO regarding the hospitals request for level 2 thoracic cancer surgery status.

“We are confident once CCO and the (Ministry of Health) take a step back and review the foundational documents creating level 1 and level 2 centers and the change in circumstances happening in our community they will conclude Windsor qualifies for a level 2 center,” the hospital said in a statement.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne will be in Windsor on Nov. 22 speaking at the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce luncheon. A rally is expected to coincide with the event.
