Windsor Regional Hospital plans to lay off 34 nurses because of budget cuts.
Hospital CEO David Musyj says the layoffs are related to a provincial funding reduction of $4.2 million.
The cuts will impact 24 full-time and 10 part-time nurses. Their jobs will be eliminated in July.
Musyj says 39 new jobs for Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses will also be created because they are moving 30 acute care beds at Met Campus over to Malden Park as continuing care beds.
There are 995 nurses currently employed at the hospital.
