The family of Kathleen Straky are remembering the wife and mother with a donation to the Windsor Regional Hospital.

The money is funding the Kathleen Straky Pulmonary Function Lab Waiting Lounge and a blanket warmer for the Cath Lab at the hospital's Ouellette campus.

Karl Straky and his family were present for a brief dedication ceremony on Monday morning.

At the time of her passing, the family had said, "Reflecting on Kathleen's final two year journey, she spent over 230 days in hospital being taken care of by many loving and caring medical professionals and it was our family's ultimate wish to give back in some meaningful way to support their needs."

The lounge has new furnishings, television and wall prints depicting Kathleen's garden in full bloom, hopefully adding comfort for patients waiting for a test procedure.

Testing at the Pulmonary Function Lab allows a physician to access the capacity and function of the patient's lungs to help with the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive and restrictive lung disease.
