What’s left of the Windsor Raceway is up for grabs next week, where everything from front end loaders to the kitchen sink is on the auction block.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, thousands of surplus items will be auctioned off.
“I think it's going to be an interesting auction,” said Adam Storey, auctioneer for Story Auctions. “I think we're going to get a lot of people to turn out."
Storey has been advertising the sale and says people from as far away as Calgary are interested, and will be flying in to place bids in person. Storey expects to see many others who are past patrons, or even former employees.
“The raceway here dates back before my time, and the time before cable and internet,” says Storey. “This would have been the entertainment centre for people from miles away."
Windsor Raceway president Pat Soulliere says despite the government shutting down the location in the spring of 2012, there is still hope that something positive will happen with the racetrack in the future.
"We just don't know what that future holds," says Soulliere.
The public is invited to view the items up for auction Saturday, at Windsor Raceway.
