A cougar is expected to be on the prowl targeting criminals in Windsor.

It's not the animal, but a military armored vehicle. The Department of National Defence says it donated the six-wheeled vehicle to the Windsor police service as surplus.

Police aren't commenting right now and say a statement will be issued when it's officially launched.

The vehicle is being outfitted with decals and lights.

As well as withstanding rifle fire, the Cougar can reach 100 km/h and has off road capability.
