Windsor police are investigating an early morning shooting that sent one man to hospital.

Around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the Boom Boom Room Nightclub on Ouellette.

Once there, they found a 20 year old man suffering injuries from a gun shot wound in the entrance way of the club.

The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

CTV Windsor has learned the victim is Devonte Piece, a former Catholic Central student and athlete.

Witnesses at the scene tell CTV News that Piece was working as a security guard at the club at the time of the shooting.

"They didn't really know it was a gun shot because the music was blasting," says witness Eddie Mang.
