Windsor police say they have identified the group of teens involved in a video showing a girl being bullied that has been circulating online.

WARNING: Video contains graphic language.

On Wednesday, at about 6 p.m., police began an investigation into the incident.

A teenage female attended Windsor Police Headquarters with a family member to reported that she was a victim of an assault which occurred on Nov. 8, at about 5 p.m., in the 4800 block of Wyandotte Street East.

The victim said that she was approached by a group of teens, both male and female, who began shouting at her, taunting her and trying to instigate a fight.

Police say a number of the suspects in the group assaulted the victim, while shouting at her. She sustained minor injuries and didn't require medical attention.

The mother of the 19-year-old victim, who has special needs, tells AM800 she can't watch the video.

The woman, who doesn't want to be identified, says her daughter is doing fine and has a big heart. In fact, she claims her daughter is more concerned about the assailants because they are being physically threatened online.

She also wants to know why no one intervened, but hopes the video creates more public awareness about bullying.

Officers also responded to a call at a home from one of the teens from the group involved in the incident, who said that she was receiving threats from a number of people online.

Police are advising the public to refrain from contacting individuals who were involved as the Windsor Police Youth Crime Branch is investigating the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4396, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com
