Windsor police are investigating an elaborate break and enter at an east side grocery store.

According to police, officers were called to the Metro grocery store at 3663 Tecumseh Rd. E. Wednesday for a commercial break and enter.

Through their investigation police say the phone lines and alarm systems were compromised. Officers say the suspect(s) entered through a rear produce receiving door. Once inside, police say they cut wires to audible sirens located in the ceiling. The office was then entered, and an unknown amount of cash was taken.

Police believe the break in occurred sometime overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. An employee discovered the break in after routine maintenance.

The investigation is ongoing.
