Windsor pharmacist accused of billing the province for drugs that weren’t dispensed

A Windsor pharmacist has been charged for allegedly submitting falsified bills to the Ontario Drug Benefit Program.

The OPP Anti-Rackets Health Fraud Investigation Unit says Rocco D’Angelo, the owner and pharmacist at Royal Windsor Pharmacy, allegedly billed the province for drug products that were not dispensed.

The events are alleged to have happened between 2009 and 2011. D’Angelo, 61, is charged with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust.

The Ontario Drug Benefit Program is offered through the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.

D'Angelo will appear in a Windsor court on Dec. 2.
