The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service has charged a Reserve Force member from a naval reserve division in Windsor with one count of sexual assault.

Ordinary Seaman Andres Florian-Rodriguez was charged on Nov. 15.

Officials say the charge relates to a sexual assault reported to have taken place while the accused was attending a course at Naval Fleet School Atlantic at Canadian Forces Base Halifax in April 2016.

The accused and victim were both candidates on the course at the time of the alleged assault.

“The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service investigates all allegations of sexual assault in a thorough and impartial manner to help ensure a respectful, healthy professional environment for all members,” says Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Bolduc.

“This charge reflects our ongoing commitment to support victims and defend against sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces.”
