A Windsor man crossing into Detroit with a NEXUS pass has been arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Services.

According to CBP officials, Sarmad Shrouzeh was arrested at the Ambassador Bridge on Monday on a sexual assault warrant. Dearborn Police Department issued the warrant earlier that day.

“The NEXUS program and other trusted traveler programs have strict criteria for participation.” said Roderick Blanchard, CBP Port Director for Detroit in a statement. “Having a criminal record or past violation of CBP laws/regulations/policies may render you ineligible for participation.”

Shrouzeh is now in Dearborn police custody.
