A 42-year old windsor man is going to jail for sex related charges.

In September, Timothy Finch pleaded guilty to sexual assault and sexual interference involving a young woman.

The victim found relief on Thursday, when Finch was sentenced to five and a half years in jail.

Finch must also provide a DNA and blood sample, is banned from owning weapons for 10-years and his name will be added to the sex offender registry.

Court heard the victim’s abuse began when she was just twelve.

For three years, she says she was repeatedly abused, and it only ended when she discovered she was pregnant.

The victim is now in her teen’s, but cannot be identified because of a publication ban.

But she tells CTV Windsor that she feels relief for the first time in a long time, and some happiness.

The now 16 year old girl says “she is happy to have a little of my life back.”

A victim impact statement revealed some of the hardships the teen has suffered because of this ordeal. She cries herself to sleep most nights and wakes up unable to breath, and she says she has nowhere to run and hide from the memories.

In handing down his sentence, Justice Ken Deane told the court the young woman "has been robbed from her youth and innocence."

The Crown was seeking a six to eight year jail term while the Defence was looking for three to five years behind bars.

The victim's mother doesn't believe Finch's punishment fits the crime. She tells CTV News her daughter “was 14 when she had the baby, and now 16. So you can imagine the struggles she’s going through. And five-and-a-half years is all he gets…. I don’t understand.”

But the young mother says “it’s enough for me to have a good night sleep and carry on with my life.”
