A Windsor man has been sentenced to five years in prison, following a lengthy sexual assault investigation.

Benjamin Smyth was sentenced in a Windsor court on Thursday, in connection to the assault of two adult victims. According to Windsor police, the victims were assaulted in August and November of 2013.

During the investigation, officers obtained DNA evidence from both victims in each case. Smyth was arrested in March and has remained in police custody ever since.

Investigators are praising the teamwork within the police service and the community for leading to the arrest.

Police say no further information will be provided in order to protect the identity of the victims.
