A 42-year-old Windsor man has been charged with fraud after police say he was posing as a certified electrician through an ad on Kijiji.

Windsor police started an investigation into the man on Jan. 12, 2014.

A complainant came into police headquarters and stated that they wanted to report an alleged fraud that took place.

She told police that her mother responded to the ad and hired a male who represented himself as a certified electrical contractor in April of 2013. The woman said that they soon found that very little work was done and most of the work was never completed.

The fraud unit worked in conjunction with the Electrical Safety Authority to determine that the man didn't have the proper electrical credentials.

Police also investigated three other similar allegations from other complainants. Anyone with similar complaints is asked to contact the fraud unit.

Roberto Spada, 42, of Windsor is charged with three counts of fraud under $5,000 and one count of fraud over $5,000.
