A 50-year-old man has been charged with robbery after he allegedly stole an SUV and later crashed into a ditch.
Windsor police officers were dispatched to a parking lot in the area of the 900 block of Ouellette for a robbery on Tuesday, at about 6 p.m.
Officers spoke to a 58-year-old male who stated that he was approached by an unknown male as he exited his vehicle. The male suspect allegedly assaulted the victim and took the keys for the vehicle and drove off.
At about 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to a single-motor vehicle collision in the area of Banwell and EC Row Expressway.
Upon arrival officers observed the stolen motor vehicle in the ditch area and the driver was being tended to by paramedics.
Police say the driver matched the description of the suspect in the robbery and was subsequently placed under arrest without incident.
Ken Reaume, 50, from Windsor, is charged with robbery and possession of stolen property.
