An accident that happened during the decommissioning of the G.M. Windsor Transmission Plant has resulted in a hefty fine against Process Group Incorporated.

P.G.I. has been fined $110,000 for a violation of the province’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.

In October 2010 a worker was injured while dismantling equipment at the former G.M. plant.

Sections of an overhead conveyor were being removed.

When anchor bolts were loosened, the device broke free striking the worker in the back.

A Ministry of Labour inspection found no blocking had been installed to prevent collapse or movement of the section being dismantled.
